2024 International Exhibition of Contemporary Textile Art

Rita Parniczky, a member of the Company, will be among 214 artists exhibiting their work at the 2024 exhibition of the international exhibition of contemporary textile art, which is held every three years, between June 21, 2024 and August 31, 2024 at the Szombathely Gallery.

Business For Creatives Course Developed With Bayes Business School

The Saddlers have worked with Bayes Business School to support the development of a 3-day programme designed especially for creative businesses in saddlery and leathercraft and other traditional crafts. The Saddlers will cover fees for successful applicants with saddlery, leathercraft, or craft businesses.

Textile Awards Lunch

The Company held its annual Textile Awards in front of representatives of the UK Textile Industry on 20th February. This year the Lord Mayor very kindly presented the prizes and we were also honoured to be joined by the High Commissioner for Bangladesh.

Redbridge in Bloom

We are delighted that the gardens at Weavers’ House have won first prize for best Community Display in the 2023 Rebridge in Bloom competition.

New course weaves textile innovation with sustainability

A new University of Leeds course will address a skills gap in the UK’s textile industry and ensure the future production of textiles is less harmful to our environment. The Textile Innovation and Sustainability BSc course will prepare students to address the environmental and societal challenges facing the industry worldwide.

Richard Humphries Wins Root and Branch Award

The Root and Branch Award panel have awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award to Richard Humphries MBE, a Liveryman and Past Upper Bailiff of the Weavers’ Company, for his support over his thirty-five years’ Livery membership, in engaging with the craft, training the next generation, charitable efforts, and ensuring the Livery movement’s relevance to the industry today

Becket Pageant

The Company were delighted to be able to support the Becket Pageant over the weekend of 24/25 June 2022. Thomas Becket attested the first Weavers’ Company Charter in 1155 so we really had to be there.
