Scholarships

Scholarships

Tutors from the Weavers’ Core Group of supported colleges will each be invited by the Company to submit Scholarship applications for a maximum of five of their students by 31 October 2021.  Students must be undergraduates who have completed at least one year of study or attended as a postgraduate. They must also be a British citizen, demonstrate a special interest in weaving or woven textiles, and be nominated by their tutor. The Company does not support applications for PhD research.

Stuart Hollander Award

All applicants for the Company’s Scholarships are automatically considered for the Stuart Hollander Award. This is the Company’s premier scholarship that commemorates the life and work of Stuart Hollander, CBE – a member of the Company who played a significant role in the textile industry. It comprises an additional cash award of £1,000.

The Stuart Hollander Scholarship 2019 was awarded to Tamara Dew of Loughborough University (pictured with Tom Helme from Fermoie).  The award for 2020 was won by Jonathan MacKinnon from the Glasgow School of Art.
